AI, Art, and Afrofuturism with Dr. Nettrice R. Gaskins In-Person

Dr. Nettrice R. Gaskins presents AI, Art, and Afrofuturism at the Georgia Tech Library on February 8, 2024. As an African American digital artist, scholar, and cultural critic, Dr. Gaskins explores STEAM learning, "techno-vernacular creativity" and Afrofuturism, among other cultural movements. Her algorithmic, AI-generated and assisted art has been on view at the Smithsonian, in publications, murals, films, and galleries around the country. Her first full-length book, Techno-Vernacular Creativity and Innovation is available through The MIT Press. She received a doctoral in Digital Media from Georgia Tech and currently works at Lesley University.

 

 

Dr. Nettrice R. Gaskins is an African American digital artist, academic, cultural critic and advocate of STEAM fields. In her work she explores "techno-vernacular creativity" and Afrofuturism. Dr. Gaskins teaches, writes, "fabs”, and makes art using algorithms and machine learning. Her first full-length book, Techno-Vernacular Creativity and Innovation is available through The MIT Press. She received a doctorate in Digital Media from Georgia Tech and currently works at Lesley University.
