"Resisting Utopia": The Long Now Lecture Series at retroTECH In-Person

Come to retroTECH at the GT Library for a group viewing of one of the Long Now Foundation’s Lecture series and enjoy the conversation it sparks. We’ll dip into the archive at longnow.org and find a talk that connects with retroTECH’s research concern -- how our lives shape technology, and are shaped by it, over time – and follow that with an open discussion guided by a Georgia Tech librarian, archivist, or faculty member. This month's video is "Resisting Dystopia." Science fiction authors Becky Chambers and Annalee Newitz gave this talk in 2023, exploring how science fiction can help us imagine new futures that make sense of our current civilizational struggles.

retroTECH’s Long Now Lecture Series is part of our charge to create the future by exploring and preserving our technological pasts.
