SUMMARY:"How Digital Memory is Shaping Our Future": The Long Now Lecture Series at retroTECH
DESCRIPTION:Come to retroTECH at the GT Library for a group viewing of one
of the Long Now Foundation’s Lecture series and enjoy the conversation it
sparks. We’ll dip into the archive at longnow.org and find a talk that
connects with retroTECH’s research concern -- how our lives shape
technology\, and are shaped by it\, over time – and follow that with an
open discussion guided by a Georgia Tech librarian\, archivist\, or faculty
member.\n\nThis month's video is "How Digital Memory is Shaping Our
Future." Historian Abby Smith Rumsey\, speaking in 2016\, discussed the
relationship between human memory and the technologies we create to store
cultural memories.\n\nretroTECH’s Long Now Lecture Series is part of our
charge to create the future by exploring and preserving our technological
 pasts.
